Location: Charleston, WV

Job Description: Our client, a prestigious agency in West Virginia, seeks a highly motivated and talented Assistant General Counsel to join our legal team. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent law school graduate to launch a fulfilling career in public service. The successful candidate will play a critical role in providing legal advice and representation to the Agency, working closely with senior attorneys and agency leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Conduct legal research and analysis on a wide range of legal issues, including administrative law, contract law, and tort law.
2. Assist in the preparation of legal documents, such as pleadings, motions, and contracts.
3. Represent the Agency in administrative proceedings and litigation.
4. Provide legal advice to agency staff on a variety of legal matters.
5. Work collaboratively with the legislature to develop and analyze legislation.

Qualifications:

1. Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
2. Active member of the West Virginia State Bar.
3. Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
4. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
5. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
6. A passion for public service and a commitment to serving the people of West Virginia.
