THIS SAFETY SENSITIVE POSITION IS SUBJECT TO MANDATORY DRUG TESTING POLICIES AS A CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT.

Commercial Learner's Permit required at start date. Training, including Entry Level Driver Training, will be provided prior to testing for a Commercial Driver's License (CDL). Must be able to obtain CDL within 60 days of employment.

Upon successful completion of probation and required ASE certifications, you will be eligible to advance to Bus Journey Mechanic.

Nature of Work/Examples of Work Performed


Responsible for maintenance and repair duties on City-owned and operated buses, and for the performance of preventative maintenance inspections.

Minimum Qualifications/Necessary Special Requirements


Qualifications : Graduation from high school or equivalent supplemented by specialized vocational/technical school training with a degree in diesel repair or technology; or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the desirable knowledge, abilities and skills.

Necessary Special Requirements :
Possession of a valid driver's license when operating a vehicle is necessary to the satisfactory performance of assigned duties.

When operating equipment that falls under the Nebraska Commercial Driver's License (CDL) status, the employee is required to possess and maintain the proper license and endorsement.

Certification as an ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) Mechanic, or pass a mutually agreed upon examination, prior to advancement to Journey Mechanic.
