THE POSITION
The Department of Transportation is currently on the lookout for a Chief Real Estate Appraiser to oversee the process of securing legal rights-of-way and acquiring necessary real estate for highway enhancements. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all appraisals accurately reflect fair market value, provide just compensation for damages, and are conducted efficiently to adhere to project timelines. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
In this position, you will be responsible for assessing the suitable type of appraisal required for every property and compiling the Appraisal Problem Analysis for both staff and fee appraisers. You will also be tasked with identifying instances where fee appraisers are necessary to finalize the appraisal procedure and will be involved in the contracting and selection procedures. Additionally, you will review the final appraisal reports submitted by staff and fee appraisers to ensure you are comprehensive, precise, methodologically sound, and compliant with state and federal regulations governing the implementation of right-of-way policies and protocols.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
+ Full-time employment
+ Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
+ Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Oil City.
+ This position may be eligible for alternate work schedule upon successful completion of probationary period.
+ Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
+ One year as a General Real Estate Appraiser (commonwealth title); or
+ Three years of professional real estate appraisal experience which includes one year appraising all types of real property.
Special Requirements:
+ All positions require possession of an active Pennsylvania Certified General Appraiser certification.
+ All positions require possession of an active motor vehicle license.
