DESCRIPTION This position reports to the Airport Executive Director and is responsible for providing leadership and management of the Airport's facility maintenance operation. Operational span of responsibilities includes airport grounds, equipment, buildings, custodial services, and related systems. Position requires familiarity with contemporary maintenance procedures, protocols, and systems. Responsible for deploying personnel and contracted services for the upkeep, improvement, and repair of Airport equipment and facilities within the guidelines of federal/state regulations, engineering guidelines and organizational policies and procedures. Management of approximately 20 personnel including assigning tasks, leading, training, and developing subordinate personnel. Works closely and collaboratively with numerous internal and external partners concerning facility maintenance.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - Oversees the Facility Maintenance Division and works collaboratively with Airport staff. Manages Facility Maintenance budget, purchasing, inventory control, administrative actions, and work-related resource requirements. Oversees the Airport's comprehensive maintenance program. Trains, develops, and evaluates the work of subordinate personnel.
- Responsible for the management of maintenance activities and selected construction projects related to the airfield, grounds, terminal buildings, equipment, roads, hangars, and parking. Responds to unanticipated facilities maintenance issues (e.g. system failures, after hours calls, weather related events, etc.).
- Assigns projects and sets facility maintenance priorities. Establishes preventative maintenance programs. Oversees the work of internal personnel and contracted service providers. Participates in the evaluation of maintenance activities to determine the most efficient and cost effective methods.
- Exhibits an understanding of the linkage between facilities maintenance activities and the Airport's federal certification requirements. Ensures these activities are appropriately resourced and prioritized.
- Regularly inspects and monitors Airport buildings, systems, grounds and facilities to proactively identify maintenance-related issues and/or implement usage or operation efficiencies.
POSITION SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES MIGHT INCLUDE : Oversees all Maintenance Departments.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education & Experience: Must have related BA degree with 5 years equivalent experience
Or
High School Diploma or GED with a minimum of 10 years experience in positions with progressively increased levels of management responsibility.
Primary experience should be in all aspects of facility maintenance and personnel management.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: - Familiarity with planning, organizing and establishing priorities.
- Good communication skills, both oral and written.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently.
- Must pass Criminal History Record Check and Security Threat Assessment.
- Must maintain appropriate security status at all times.
- Proficiency in dealing with other departments, vendors, commercial and industrial contractors, formulating and executing procedures, making decisions and assuming responsibility.
Certifications Required : None
Licensing : Possession of a valid driver's license with good driving history. If State license is other than Georgia or South Carolina, applicant must obtain a license in Georgia or South Carolina within 30 days of employment.
OTHER : This position requires staff call up in an emergency situation and travel from office to other locations.

Sensory Requirements: Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades of colors, sounds, odor, depth, texture, and visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
Environmental Factors: Performance of essential functions may require exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, fumes, temperature and noise extremes, hazardous materials, heights, confined spaces, machinery, toxic agents, animal/wildlife attacks, or animal/human bites.
