YOUR ROLE:

As an Interior Designer I, you are a recently certified interior designer who supports full scale design under supervision of a Senior Interior Designer or Team Leader. You will assist in all phases of interior design including pre-design, conceptual design, space planning, signage, project coordination, Revit document production, and contract administration, while liaising with clients and consultants for various projects.

You support the Interior Design discipline through creativity, interpersonal savvy, peer relationships and customer focus to develop design concepts and create accurate documentation in all phases within the established design principles, project budget, and schedule. You are committed to self-development and through priority setting and technical learning, you grow functional/technical skills to support business growth.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

Project Quality

Exhibit initiative, eagerness to learn and take on new responsibilities, respond well to mentorship, management, and training, and continuously show professional growth through performance contributions.

Develop various specifications for materials, finishes, fixed equipment, construction time, and cost.

Assist with and undertake selection of furniture systems, fixtures, and equipment.

Assist with developing the interior design content for the design development package including prototype samples and mockups, as necessary.

Coordinate document requirements with design team and corresponding plans and drawings.

Assist with project reports and analysis documents such as field reviews, client summaries, and program analysis.

Attend on-site visits and field reviews to become acclimated on our methods, style, and approach to working with outside contractors and vendors.

Develop good communication with internal team members, clients, and external partners:

Effectively articulate interior design ideas to the client and project team.

Maintain contact and clear communication with the client at various levels of project work.

Report schedule and budget deviations to the Project Manager and client on a timely basis.

Coordinate work with other disciplines to deliver a cohesive high quality design result.

Prepare design presentation materials and participate in highly effective verbal presentations to clients.

Coordinate and prepare quality working drawing contract documents, sketches, plans, details, and schedules, using REVIT software.

Develop and maintain basic understanding of building codes and construction regulations.

Present a professional image through appropriate business attire, personal appearance, and ability to carry and project yourself in a professional manner.

Maintain knowledge of current trends and introductions of furnishings.

Follow Progressives Project Process standards and best practices.

Act as an ambassador for company-wide values and ethical standards of practice.

Attend professional development activities including Lessons Learned sessions.

Financial

Work with senior staff to ensure your work effort is in line with the overall project budget.

Exhibit the ability to effectively understand and translate the clients needs, goals, and aspirations.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS:

Your Degree: Bachelors Degree in Interior Design or Architecture or equivalent in education and experience required for professional certification.

Your Licensure: NCIDQ certified interior designer. IIDA or ASID membership preferred. LEED certification preferred. CSI-CDT preferred (or willingness to complete within 1 year)

Your Knowledge and Experience:

Minimum 2 years of post-graduate interior design experience.

Good knowledge of the interior design and documentation process, including a high level of creative talent in conceptual design and rendering skills of either hand sketching or computer modeling, as evidenced through an outstanding portfolio of past work.

Good knowledge of space planning, sustainability, and other trends in the design/construction industry.

Good knowledge of furniture, fixture, and equipment, architectural/interior finishes, lighting, signage, art, and color schemes to carryout design intent.

Good ability to produce and develop excellent design concepts and content.

Good experience with quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) processes.

Good knowledge of applicable codes and ability to assist in conducting research.

Good ability to express and show a passion for building and maintaining client relationships and providing exceptional customer service, modeled through strong communication and interpersonal skills, including preparing and performing presentations and demonstrated through your competencies.

Your Technical Skills:

Good knowledge of SketchUp, Revit, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe InDesign are required. Experience in producing construction documents.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook required.
