An exciting opportunity is available for a Director of Nursing to join a large social services agency in Queens. This role involves overseeing nursing operations and will require travel between Queens and Nassau locations. It’s a fantastic position for a seasoned nursing leader looking to make a meaningful impact in a dynamic healthcare setting.

Job Function:

• Day Shift
• Monday through Friday (8am - 4pm or 9am - 5pm)
• The Director of Nursing will ensure that quality health care is being administered to all Residential Program participants.
• Directly supervises Residential RN’s in the assigned cluster.
• Functions as a coach, collaborator, facilitator and support system for Residential Nurse's.
• Provide orientation training of newly hired nurses, as assigned.
• Functions as a hospital discharge planner for hospitalized individuals in the assigned cluster. Initiates Surgical Review Committee (if indicated), conduct ongoing collaboration with hospital personnel, visits. hospitalized individual regularly, and assist RN’s with discharge training of all staff.
• Participates and follows through on recommendations from committees as assigned (i.e., Training Committee, IRC, BRC and Directors Committee).
• Assumes basic responsibilities during RN vacancy to include report writing, incident reporting, and attendance at review meetings.
• Responds to emergency situations via 24 hours, Monday – Friday on-call status.

Job Requirements:

• Minimum of five years of nursing experience with three of those years in the ID/DD field, required.
• Previous training and Quality Assurance experience preferred.
• Knowledge of OPWDD regulations.
• Valid driver’s license
• Experience working with people with Autism is preferred
