Production & Quality

  • Minimum: 5 years’ experience in the field (ideally all aspects of building)
  • Regular and reliable attendance (40 hours per week, Monday - Thursday (10 hours/day) is typical work week.)
  • Executes NFB policies and procedures

  • Jobsite cleanliness and organization
  • Trash disposal daily
  • Sweep and organize jobsite daily
  • Assist crew members with material organization (staging, deliveries)
  • Maintenance: General observation of equipment conditions (tires chains loose, leaking fluids, broken components)
  • Responsible for equipment maintenance checklist daily (greasing, checking fluids, tire pressure)
  • Knowledge of all materials onsite (fasteners, equipment, materials (lumber, general building products, timbers)
  • Assisting all coworkers upon request
  • Scaffolding setup and takedown
  • Material and equipment protection from weather (tarping material at end of day/during inclement weather, plugging in machines during winter months)
  • Operation of forklifts, skid steers, genie lifts after completion of certification
  • Ability to work with other carpenters to complete tasks
  • Ability to cut and measure wood precisely
  • Ability to assemble materials accurately and according to directions/plans (metal siding)
  • Door and window install (plumb, level, flashing openings per design or manufacturer)
  • Experience in interior finishes (cabinetry install, trim)
  • Operation of all onsite power tools safely (table saws, sawmill, chop saw, drills, skilsaws, planer/ jointer, hammer drill, etc.)
  • Proper use of company and co-workers’ tools (tool respect and communication of unsafe tools)
  • Using the proper tools for the correct application (Sawzall during framing, multitool during finish)
  • Advanced layout skills (floor joists, beams, headers, wall assembly/components, roof rafters)
  • Ability to identify all components in framing (studs, joists, rafters, sills, headers, etc.)
  • Knowledge of building sequencing (blocking before drywall, locations of blocking, decorative finishes, lighting, and locations of HVAC/ plumbing)
  • Basic log and timber skills (identification of reclaimed materials, scribes, chainsaws)
  • Knowledge of proper fastening schedules (sheathing patterns, stud nailing requirements, fastening types and sizes)
  • Ability to communicate with all individuals onsite (coworkers, subcontractors, delivery drivers, management)
  • Ability to problem solve (diagnosing problems and developing solutions)
  • Ability to listen and execute tasks given from onsite management (both verbal and written)
  • Confidence to approach onsite management with any questions or issues
  • Speed/Framing Square knowledge (degrees, roof pitches)
  • Basic hand tool knowledge (hammer, catspaw, chisel, chalk lines, tape measures)
  • Advanced math skills (addition, subtraction, division, multiplication, geometry, trigonometry)
  • Basic understanding of blueprints (page organization, where to find information)
  • Capable of maintaining company’s quality standards. Understands quality of projects and correct timeline of task.

Property Maintenance

  • Completes work orders in a timely and accurate manner. Cleans up after work is complete.
  • Performs repairs on the property, including touch-up painting, carpentry or wall repair, misc. items, etc.
  • Responsible for maintaining NFB quality in fit and finish in projects

 

Safety

  • Follow jobsite OSHA compliance
  • Follow NFB Loss Control Program “Safety Plan”
  • Follow NFB policies and procedures in accomplishing work

Physical & Environmental

  • Performs tasks that require physical labor at construction sites
  • Climb and work at heights and in confined spaces
  • Continual walking, standing, climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, and heavy lifting (50 lbs)
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Able to work overtime and weekends as required by the workload
