Job Description

The new MA Program in General Psychology within the School of Health Sciences of Touro University invites applications for the Professor of Psychology position. This position involves a faculty appointment in the Department of Doctoral Studies in Clinical Psychology within the Touro Universitys School of Health Sciences (rank open). This position is to be effective July 1, 2025.

The Professor of Psychology, in the MA program in general psychology within the School of Health Sciences is responsible for teaching; advising; mentorship; scholarship; and department, school, and university service. The MA Program in General Psychology is a strong psychological science-based program intended to prepare students for future graduate work in psychology, medicine, law, etc., and/or enhance the knowledge and skill of those individuals seeking career advancement. The University places a high priority on teaching excellence and active on-going research productivity with an expectation that the candidate will also be active in their professional field.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Teach 6 courses per academic year.
• Prepare course materials such as syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts.
• Engage in independent research/scholarly activity.
• Advise and mentor students.
• Student recruitment
• Participation in faculty meetings, provide service to the program, the School of Health Sciences, and the Touro University community.

Education/ Experience

• Doctor of Psychology or Doctor of Philosophy degree required.
• 5 years of teaching experience and significant research history.
• Strong and consistent peer reviewed publications appropriate for rank (preference is for a research line consistent with clinical health and human performance or cognitive neuroscience).

Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities

• Exceptional analytical, problem solving skills, collaboration, and matrix management skills.
• Demonstrated ability to develop positive and cooperative relationships with student's, faculty, and colleagues.
• Competence and/or experience in technology as an educational tool (e.g. CANVAS).
• Demonstrated proficiency in communication (written and verbal).
• A high degree of interpersonal competency: professionalism, diplomacy, judgement, and discretion.
• A commitment to work in multicultural and urban education settings.
• Knowledge of higher education processes.
• Effectively manage and organize daily tasks independently and with a team while balancing multiple projects and meeting deadlines.
• Ability to solve complex problems and meet deadlines.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & Outlook.
