Position Summary:

The Teacher Assistant is responsible for supporting students' school success by working collaboratively with building educators. The ideal applicant is a highly motivated, energetic, and mission aligned individual who is interested in providing high quality and engaging care for students in a variety of settings such as the classroom, the lunchroom, recess and one on one support. This is a 10 month position that is supervised by a member of the school leadership team.

Detailed Responsibilities:
  • Support the lead classroom teacher in meeting student and family needs
  • Execute small and whole group learning using required curriculum when applicable
  • Actively manage and engage students in a variety of settings including recess, lunch, classroom, arrival and dismissal.
  • Actively manage students in a variety of settings including the classroom, recess, lunch and in both large group and small group scenarios
  • Proactively support students who are struggling behaviorally using trauma-informed practices and Responsive Classroom (all staff members are given professional development around the above)
  • Track student progress and maintain student data
  • Ensure a safe, joyful, and welcoming school environment
  • Proactively collaborate with the lead classroom teacher on best instructional practices to maximize student progress
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:
  • Associates degree from an accredited institution or a minimum of 48 college credits
  • Experience working with children ages 3 years and up
  • All employees must be able to provide Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Background Check Clearance (Act 34), Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance (Act 151), Federal Bureau of Investigation Record Check Clearance (Act 114), and Sexual Misconduct/Abuse Disclosure Clearance (Act 168) before starting work on campus
